Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "substantial measures" from international partners to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the United States, the EU and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and implementing sanctions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 projectiles attacked the country's power systems, describing such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were laboring to fix the damage.

A wave of strikes struck electrical systems and apartment buildings in Kyiv.
